Job Title: Stock Accountant

Job Summary
TheStock Accountant plays a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of inventory management within a construction company. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of stock control, from procurement and receiving to tracking, valuation, and reporting. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles and construction inventory specifics.
Responsibilities
- Manage the entire inventory lifecycle, including procurement, receiving, storage, issuance, and disposal of construction materials and supplies.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure timely acquisition of materials at competitive prices.
- Maintain accurate and detailed inventory records using a computerized inventory management system.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and reconcile physical inventory with system records to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Manage stock valuation using appropriate costing methods (e.g., FIFO, LIFO, average cost).
- Generate comprehensive inventory reports for management, including stock levels, usage trends, and cost analysis.
- Identify and implement strategies to minimize stock waste, obsolescence, and shrinkage.
- Oversee stock control procedures and ensure compliance with internal control policies.
- Work collaboratively with project managers and site crews to ensure efficient material delivery and usage on construction projects.
- May participate in the preparation of cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a senior inventory accounting role, preferably within the construction industry.
- Proven experience in managing and controlling construction inventory.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and inventory costing methods (FIFO, LIFO, average cost).
- Proficiency in accounting software and inventory management systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with various departments.
