Position Overview

  • TheFinance Officer supports the Finance Manager in managing financial activities, ensuring compliance with regulations, and maintaining accurate financial records for the organization. This role involves assisting in budgeting, financial reporting, and day-to-day financial operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Data Entry and Recordkeeping:
    • Enter financial transactions into accounting software accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Maintain organized and up-to-date financial records, including receipts, invoices, and expense reports.
    • Assist in reconciling bank statements and verifying accuracy of financial data.
  • Budget Support:
    • Assist in the preparation of budgets for projects and programs.
    • Monitor budget expenditures and assist in budget variance analysis.
    • Provide support in budget revisions and forecasting as needed.
  • Financial Reporting Assistance:
    • Support the Finance Manager in preparing financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
    • Assist in compiling financial data for donor reports and grant compliance.
    • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial reports and submissions.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable:
    • Process accounts payable transactions, including vendor invoices and expense reimbursements.
    • Assist in managing accounts receivable, including invoicing and tracking payments from donors and partners.
    • Monitor outstanding payments and follow up on overdue invoices.
  • Compliance and Documentation:
    • Assist in ensuring compliance with financial regulations, donor requirements, and organizational policies.
    • Maintain documentation and records related to financial transactions, grants, and contracts.
    • Support internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and information.
  • Financial Analysis Support:
    • Assist in conducting financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and areas for improvement.
    • Prepare financial reports and presentations for management review and decision-making.
    • Contribute to financial planning and forecasting processes.

Requirements
The ideal candidate should have;

  • A Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • At least 3years of finance experience in donor-funded projects.
  • Preferrably candidate should reside in Edo State or shoud be willing to relocate.

Skills / Competencies:

  • Strong management, communication, and negotiation skills, and the ability to collect data from multiple partners.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft suits such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of local financial and accounting systems is preferred.
  • Knowledge of donor regulations, policies, and procedures and familiarity with grants management.
